Painting flowers for me is somewhat like writing fiction. The Author (Painter) has something to say and the truth revealed in fiction can so often be more honest than telling a story through just the facts. The story I think flowers have to tell is about impermanence. They are temporal, transient, cyclical.
Floral Paintings are important to me as they are the a representation of life itself. Like flowers, we are temporal. We have only a little while to blossom before we begin to fade. Flowers offer up their beauty and hope and then they are gone. And they do all of this without complaint, a lesson I most need to learn.
