I am convinced the era in which we live is an era of pivotal change. As a species we are exploring the Universe and the microscopic. There is always both chaos and beauty in change. The more we know the less we understand. The wider our understanding the wider the perimeter of our unknowing. It is this paradox I am attempting to illustrate. What, who and why are we?
Why Vanishing? After existing for over 100 million years as a species their struggle to survive is heroic. Loss of the grasses they eat, destruction of their breeding grounds, folks hunting their eggs and harvesting their flesh are just some of the causes of endangerment. Although many individual and environmental groups are working to find sustainable solutions to stop their demise, the magnificent Sea Turtles mere existence is in serious peril. I attempted to artistically and imaginatively demonstrate their protective camouflage coloring. My wish is to call attention to this issue and hopefully lift awareness.

Feather Nation came out of the same color palette as Divine Velocity. I love playing with orange and blue. Centuries of art and those two main complementary colors still have some surprises for us. I poured the colors onto the canvas and they seemed to want to form into a pueblo. Perhaps it was Native Americans speaking to me in some mysterious way. I’m sure they lived here on my property near a seasonal creek. I revere the original people who I am sure lived on the land I now occupy.
